Then you’ve come to the right place!
© GIG Karasek
GIG Karasek is an Austrian plant engineering company specializing in state-of-the-art machinery and systems that process waste streams through evaporation, distillation, and drying.
Our technologies are used to concentrate high-value substances, distill valuable solvents, recover critical resources, and dry sludge.
Since 2022, we’ve also been offering key environmental technologies - most notably our newly patented solution for converting harmful carbon dioxide from the air into valuable products.
We offer the following metal technology apprenticeships:
- Welding technician
- Structural steel technician
Got questions? We’re happy to answer them!
Where?
In Gloggnitz-Stuppach or Attnang-Puchheim
How long?
Your apprenticeship lasts 3.5 years. Each year, you’ll attend vocational school for apprentices for 10 weeks in either Neunkirchen or Wels. Time spent in school counts as regular working hours!
What does a metal technician do?
As a metal technician, you’re a specialist in metalworking - not only manufacturing components and finished metal products, but also operating machines and entire production systems. Check out our video to see our apprentices in action!
What are the requirements?
You must have successfully completed the 9th grade. In addition, we value a strong interest in hands-on work, high motivation, and a professional demeanor.
Is this something for girls?
Of course! … and that’s nothing new for us. Our training programs are open to everyone – male, female, or non-binary!
How much will I earn?
In your first year of apprenticeship, you’ll earn €942 gross, or approximately €829 net. We pay above the standard collective agreement for workers in the metalworking and processing industry.
When can I start?
We typically start a new apprenticeship year in September. But we're flexible - let's talk about it!
What comes after the apprenticeship?
As a highly sought-after skilled technician, you’ll have a wide range of opportunities in industrial and commercial companies of all sizes. At GIG Karasek, you’ll work at one of our two production facilities and may take on assembly assignments for our customers around the world.
How do I apply?
It’s simple - just fill out the online application form, attach your resume and cover letter, and you’re good to go! Alternatively, you can send your application to future.gigkarasek@gigkarasek.at.

Here’s what we offer in addition
Apprentice day
GIG Karasek is part of the Dr. Aichhorn Group. Once a year, all apprentices across the group come together for a joint Apprentice Day. Why? Because we want our apprentices to get to know each other, share experiences, and have fun.
Trial week and apprentice exchange
The goal is to explore our sister companies, their locations, workflows, and products – and to gain insight into different businesses. We’ll take care of accommodation.
Additional training
Want to earn your forklift or crane license, or take part in advanced training at the Lenzing Training Center? No problem!
English with a native speaker
We’re committed to continuous learning – even during your apprenticeship. Since we serve customers around the world, English is a key skill. A professional coach visits our facility once a week for language training.
Apprentice incentives
We value your commitment. Each year, apprentices who perform exceptionally well receive either two extra days off or a special bonus. We also reward strong performance on the final apprenticeship exam, valuable improvement suggestions, and innovative ideas.
Apprenticeship with "Matura"
Want to earn your "Matura" (high school diploma) alongside your apprenticeship? Great! We support you.
International scholarship
Curious about how industrial companies operate abroad and eager to broaden your horizons? We’ll help you apply for an international scholarship and guide you through your options.
Public transport and driver’s license
We offer support for public transportation (e.g., Top Youth Ticket NÖ, OÖVV Youth Ticket, Styrian Youth Ticket, or depending on the collective agreement – the Climate Ticket). Most apprentices get their driver’s license during their training – we offer special (study) leave and can contribute up to €1,000.
When things get tough…
School not going as planned? Every apprentice has access to a set number of professional tutoring hours. We also participate in the “Lehre statt Leere” program, offering confidential support in challenging situations – always with the goal of helping you help yourself.
Sounds good? Perfect!
We look forward to receiving your application.
