We are looking for a motivated and experienced "Process Engineer with Project Responsibility" who is ready to accompany complex projects from the concept phase to successful commissioning. Your duties
  • Lead process development and scale-up: from concept, PFD/P&ID, mass and energy balances to specifications and tenders
  • Plan and execute experiments, DOE, data evaluation; derive design parameters for pilot/demo plants
  • Process simulation (e.g., CHEMCAD), CFD analyses (e.g., OpenFOAM), and 3D plant layouts (AutoCAD Plant 3D)
  • Responsibility for Safety & Compliance: HAZID/HAZOP/LOPA, ATEX, PED, CE; preparation of safety and operational documentation
  • Interface management with equipment design, E/I&C, suppliers, and EPCs; technical evaluation of proposals
  • Support during commissioning, FAT/SAT, performance testing, and operational optimization
  • Techno-economic assessments (CAPEX/OPEX), scaling strategies, and TRL gate reviews
  • Mentoring junior colleagues, knowledge transfer, and documentation

Your skills
  • Degree in process engineering, chemical or plant engineering; 5–8+ years of relevant industrial experience in process/plant engineering or CCU/electrochemistry
  • Proven track record in scale-up from lab/pilot to industrial plant, including design, specification, and acceptance

  • Proficiency in process simulation, basic CFD, and 3D plant layouts; skilled in Python for data analysis

  • Solid knowledge of process safety (HAZOP/LOPA), ATEX, PED; experience with explosive atmospheres, CO₂, H₂, and corrosive electrolytes 

Nice to Have

  • Experience with electrolyzers/electrochemical reactors, gas/liquid mass transfer, corrosion protection/material selection

  • Familiarity with FFG/funding projects, IP participation, and CE conformity packages


Soft skills
  • Confident communication in German and English, both written and spoken

  • Hands-on attitude and structured approach

  • Willingness to take responsibility

  • Travel readiness of approx. 20–30%
